Parenting

Ephesians 6

Children and Parents
1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 2 "Honor your father and mother" (this is the first commandment with a promise), 3"that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land." 4Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.

Colossians 3:20-21

English Standard Version (ESV)

20Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.

The most important job I have as a mother is to teach my child about God and help him understand God's love for him, God's laws for him and that the laws are to protect him and not bond him.  Having a Christ centered home is so very important for a child's character development and a successful marriage.  As a parent, you are God's representative in your child's life.  Pray with them and let them know you.  Show them the character of Christ, which resides within you and they will reach their full potential.

Causing Blessings With Our Words

We don't realize how powerful our words are. Our tongues are like swords and we kill each other with our words without realizing it. Words can cause a tremendous amount of damage to relationships with our spouse, children, parents and our world. Tearing down our loved ones with our tongues is Satan's work. I don't know about you, but I would much rather do God's work than Satan's. Sometimes, though, things going on around you make you feel like you are absorbing a lot of negative, which makes it hard to be positive. These situations can become intolerable and you find yourself being pulled into the pool of sin and feel you are drowning in it. Suddenly, you are spewing out negative instead of the positive Godly words you truly wanted to speak. Satan won.

We truly need to do everything possible to keep sin out of our lives, but you can't control others behavior, so how do we deal with this? We must hand it over to God and we MUST keep to his word and speak like HIM. We can't "fix" anyone or anything without His help, so get that idea out of your head. You must give Him the control and you must wake up everyday blessing the day and blessing everyone you speak to. Continue to speak negative and see how your world will continue to crumble beneath your feet. Speak only positive and you will be amazed at how your life will change and how you will be blessed.

Lord, please bless this day, my husband, our children and our family. And Lord please bless me and protect us all from Satan's traps!

Matthew 11:28-30:  Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you.  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."
